Non French-speaking students

Non French-speaking students are welcomed in the FLE class (French as a Foreign Language) in Grande Section. Every day, they have 45 minutes of French, in a small group with a specialized FLE teacher.

The main objective of the FLE class is to integrate foreign students into their French class and into school life.

The children use and learn vocabulary which will help them do this more easily.

The learning of the French language is done through games, nursery rhymes, and reading story books.

Throughout the school year, the children are introduced to French cultural events and traditions (Galette des rois, Chandeleur, Mardi Gras, Christmas traditions) or French customs (French breakfast for example).

The FLE teacher has an important role in welcoming, and liaising with the students’ parents. She works closely with the French teachers to prepare the children for their CP class.
