Mini Model Congress 2018

Mini-Model Congress is a student-run government simulation held at our school every June. We have 2 half-day preparation sessions followed by the actual day-long conference. This year, Mini-Model Congress was held on Thursday, June 14, 2018.

This year, 105 students participated in Mini-Model Congress :

  • Ebi students form 6th to 12th grades
  • Massillon students from 4ème to 2nd OIB

The conference was comprised of 5 committees :

  • The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS)
  • U.S. District Court
  • United Nations Security Council (UNSC)
  • The World Health Organization (WHO)
  • The European Commission

The topics debated ranged from the Russian threat in the European Commission to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in the WHO to the dire situation in Burundi in the UNSC. District Court tried a murder-arson case, while the SCOTUS justices questioned the petitioner and the respondent while listening carefully to their oral arguments in an actual Supreme Court case concerning social media.

The day-long conference concluded with an awards ceremony which all participants attended. This year, it was held outdoors in the lycée courtyard.

A huge thank you to all the student organizers who carefully planned this event!
